HOPE

HOPE (short for HOmeless PEople) was officially founded on October the 22nd, 2011 in Luxemburg.
HOPE is an organisation for homeless people in Europe, and the voice of those who otherwise have nobody to speak their case.

“It is crucial that homeless people take actively part in the political debate and that their wishes and demands are taken into account if homelessness is to be eradicated” says secretary of HOPE, Per Ernstsen, Denmark.

HOPE has already made their first statement. Under the headline ‘Fight homelessness – not the homeless’ the organisation condemns the criminalization of homeless people in Hungary.

Originally HOPE was established as a network for homeless people in October 2009 in Copenhagen. 44 homeless people attended the meeting, and decided that a common platform was needed for the homeless to raise awareness about their situation.
HOPE is now a formal organisation, and the next step is to get funding for future meetings and activities. The aim is to meet at least once a year to debate homelessness and possible solutions
